Week 5: half-time!

NEW at 1st March: Yvonne has been busy at home on her beach scenes for her triptych project. See the top two photos below.

This week saw us reach the half-way point in the term. February is turning into the "bug"month with many people struggling with colds and flu - staff and learners alike. Still we carry on and as you can see below stories in the triptychs are coming through - in many guises.

Tonight we started to look at the detail and how this can teach each of us to see where we are getting our pictures the way we envisaged and also where we are not so sure. The power of looking at details using a simple framing device (used in class) is how it trains our eye and our brain to read our work. It helps us to see how we are using:

  • composition
  • design
  • shape
  • proportion
  • perspective
  • form
  • colour
  • texture
  • mood
  • atmosphere

We will be doing more "details" evaluative work later in the term. See some of these details below.

Hope those of us who aren't feeling so well have a speedy recovery.
