Week 2: Shape, Form, Seeing through Drawing

Week One we experimented with the Gestalt approach to seeing and drawing. Black charcoal using finger techniques produced some well observed studies of the human figure.  There are four examples below.

Week Two saw us developing our seeing through drawing skills further using mono line and a bounding box technique. See below the very well observed and skillful still life studies. And they look great too!

Note how the use of a single weight line throughout emphasises a flat two-dimensional appearance. This also increases the strength of the design aspect of the drawings without the distractions of tone / shaded areas.
